October 30,2018 – Mill Creek, Maryland

After a good night of sleep in a protected anchorage at Solomans Island, we had our first fuel fill up although it only took one gallon based on the dock hand’s listening to the vent sound. Not very scientific! We also had our first waste pump out which was not unlike the RV except it was like a sewer vacuum system. All went well. The weather prediction was for light winds and full sun. We had one out of two. The sun was bright but the wind was once again at about 16 to 18 knots. Crossing of the intersection of the Potomac and the Chesapeake was about 10 nautical miles. The wind was out of the NW so it was blowing right down the Potomac. Seas were 3 to 4 ft so it made for a rough windy crossing.. Once we were in the lee of the land, the waves smoothed out and we angled in to the entrance to Mill Creek. Once into the creek it was calm and we have a great anchorage; our haven! We put on dinner, then went on the deck for evening cocktails and a beautiful sunset.. A very nice evening was enjoyed.
