Well, another rough day going south on Chesapeake Bay. Today we were heading directly into the wind rather than having it on our stern quarter. We continue to learn how to navigate using the chart plotter and the AquaMaps on the iPad. We are using the tracks provided by Bob Sherer who authors an ICW Cruising Guide. He also has a Facebook page which provides a lot of information from cruisers using the ICW.
We decide to stay the night at the Deltaville Marina. How wonderful to have made progress to our second state! This was our second use of a slip with this boat and we were able to get in with the help of the dock hand and another cruiser. It is a short finger dock so we have to climb over the lifelines to leave the boat. The marina has a loaner car which we took into the small town of Deltaville. We picked up some boat supplies, groceries and fresh seafood. Tonight we had some of their pre-made crab cakes. We also bought some bluefish and shrimp for the freezer. Our departure the following morning was all on our own; not pretty but we didn’t do any damage, even though not an easy task with a huge yacht directly to our stern.
Tell us more about your life on board. Is the food prep like living on the Coach?
Yes, as you know we like to eat our way around the country or even down the ICW. Had fresh grouper, with yellow rice and black beans and sliced avocado with fresh lime.
